In 2023, FOMAS Group company in Piedmont organized two completely free training courses in collaboration with Oggi Lavoro and PF Training.
The courses, lasting 92 and 107 hours, aimed to train CNC machining operators and molding technicians, providing them with solid theoretical and practical training.
The most interesting aspect? The best students were hired by the company at the end of the course, giving them a concrete opportunity to enter the workforce.
On International Day of Education, we had the pleasure of interviewing Luca Zurviello, Machining Operator, who attended the course and now works for our company. We asked Luca four questions to better understand his experience and learn how the course influenced his professional career.
-
Hi Luca and thank you for joining us in this brief interview. So, first question: can you tell us a little bit about your background and how you found out about the training course?
I come from a retail background, having worked at a market stall selling clothing. However, I decided to make a career change in pursuit of greater financial stability. That's when I registered with a job agency, which presented me with the opportunity to enroll in this training course, even if I have no prior experience with CNC machines. -
What was your favorite part of the training program, and what did you find most challenging?
My favorite aspect of the training program was the hands-on practical sessions where we got to work with the CNC machines. As for challenges, I didn't encounter any significant difficulties during the course. -
Can you walk us through a typical day in your current role, and what are some of the most important tasks you're responsible for?
A typical day for me starts with clocking in and reviewing my assignment sheet to determine which CNC machine I'll be working on. Once I'm at my station, I reset the measuring instruments and begin production. At the start and end of each shift, I also complete the necessary production reports. The most important task I deal with is contributing to ensuring that the parts produced meet quality standards and customer requirements, by verifying the conformity of the manufactured components. -
What advice would you give to someone who is just starting out in our company or considering applying for a training program?
I highly recommend joining a training program like the one I completed, as it provided me with the skills and knowledge necessary to secure a new role and achieve greater job stability.
We are grateful to Luca for sharing his experience and hope that his story can inspire other young people to pursue a path of training and professional growth within FOMAS Group.
