Health and Safety

Occupational health and safety form the bedrock of our strategy. Moreover, the quality of the working environment is another fundamental element and represents the basis of our policies.

The culture of environment, health and safety is embedded in every stage of our manufacturing cycle, based on the centrality of the human factor, through the UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 and UNI EN ISO 45001:2018 Integrated Management System.

The approach enables us to continuously improve the environmental, health and safety conditions at our facilities world-wide, through an integrated Group EHS management system.

In addition, to promote personal health and well-being, each site has a cross-functional steering committee for the management of EHS issues, chaired by the local CEO.

Through our Environment, Health and Safety Policy, FOMAS Group has adopted the best practices to ensure occupational health and safety, whilst safeguarding environmental and energy matters.

The afore-stated Safety Policy is based on fundamental principles and, through the involvement of all our staff members, we gather suggestions that contribute to the continuous improvement of the Group.

Training: the first commandment of prevention

The principles of Environment, Health and Safety (EHS) are not just goals to be accomplished, but rather a moral imperative that places the value of life at the centre of all FOMAS Group operations. Said principle guides every decision and initiative we take in the field of occupational safety.

We invest in training and skills development of our employees not for the sake of complying with regulations or standards, but above all to safeguard and preserve human life.
We promote a “safety culture”: not just a requirement, but a moral and social imperative.
Through active listening, information sharing and transparent communication, we are committed to ensuring a safe and healthy working environment for all.

This is why, through specific projects, we constantly support training sessions, open feedback, information initiatives and improvements to generate awareness on environmental, health and safety issues.

Learn more about Training

The INSIEME project was set up in 2020 with the aim of spreading safety and well-being at work among all company functions and minimising mishaps, aiming for zero accidents. Continuous training, periodic meetings between workers, supervisors and the management team, consultations with external professionals, the creation of places reserved for safety issues and the implementation of a participatory and structured reporting system represent the project's backbone
The name INSIEME stems from the idea that the behaviour of individuals is just as important as structural decisions. It means, therefore, that it is essential to involve the entire company organisation, from management to production, in order to change together, i.e. INSIEME.

INSIEME is not a goal, but a path to follow, which began with the first meetings in the classroom, then continued in the departments to share issues across aspects of life together at work, sharing that makes communication between people the vehicle for ideas and improvement.

All this has led to tangible results in 4 years: an 80% reduction in accidents and a 350% increase in reports in the first company where the project was implemented. Today, the project to spread the safety culture to all Group companies continues, because safety can never be halted.

Diversity and Inclusion

The recognition of the value of every single person working in FOMAS Group is reflected in our commitment to treat all our employees fairly and without any discrimination. On these grounds, we promote personalised growth paths based on individual skills in order to consolidate the professionalism of each employee.

Furthermore, we strongly oppose all forms of intimidation or discrimination in the workplace. Any behaviour in breach of the law, the Code of Ethics and the Group Human Rights Policy is not allowed.
