As part of the 70th anniversary celebrations of FOMAS Group, applications are now open for the Gastone Guzzoni Scholarship, an initiative dedicated to supporting excellence, innovation, and research in the field of metallurgy.
Established by the Italian Association for Metallurgy (AIM) with the support of FOMAS Group, the scholarship honors Gastone Guzzoni, founder of FOMAS in 1956 and Professor of Metallurgy, whose vision and expertise helped shape the company's legacy and contributed to the development of the metallurgical industry.
Supporting the Future of Metallurgy
The Gastone Guzzoni Scholarship aims to recognize and encourage young graduates whose research contributes to advancements in hot metal forming technologies and industrial metallurgy.
The initiative reflects FOMAS Group's commitment to investing in the next generation of engineers, researchers, and innovators who will help drive the future of the metallurgical industry.
Applicants must have earned a Master's Degree during the 2024/2025 or 2025/2026 academic years from universities located in:
- Italy
- France
- India
- China
- United States
Eligible Master's theses must focus on:
Hot plastic deformation processes (open-die forging and/or ring rolling) of aluminum- or titanium-based alloys, superalloys, and special steels, with particular emphasis on:
- Innovative solutions
- Advanced technologies
- Industrial applications
Applicants are required to submit:
- Curriculum Vitae (CV)
- Master's Degree certificate
- Self-declaration confirming authorization, where applicable, for theses subject to confidentiality restrictions
- Technical and scientific summary of the thesis work (maximum 10 pages)
Scholarship Award and Ceremony
The selected candidate will receive a €3,000 scholarship.
The award ceremony will take place during the ICRF 2026 International Conference – Ingot Casting, Rolling & Forging, scheduled in Bardolino (Verona, Italy) from 13 to 15 October 2026.
