2023

In 2023, BAY-FORGE affirmed its commitment to supporting local communities in India through a series of Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives focused on access to safe drinking water, education, healthcare, prevention, and community well-being.

The projects, carried out with the valuable support of the Rotary Club of Madras North, aimed to address essential needs in the communities surrounding BAY-FORGE, creating a tangible and positive impact on people’s daily lives.

Providing Access to Drinking Water in Vanjivakkam and Nungambakkam Villages

One of the key initiatives carried out in 2023 focused on improving access to drinking water in two villages in northern Chennai: Vanjivakkam and Nungambakkam.

BAY-FORGE supported the installation of a new reverse osmosis water system in one village and the repair of the existing system in the other. These interventions helped provide local residents with safer and more reliable access to drinking water, contributing to improved quality of life for the communities involved.

Supporting Local Schools in Chennai

BAY-FORGE also supported education through donations to local schools near its premises, with the aim of improving learning conditions and creating more welcoming spaces for children.

Thanks to BAY-FORGE’s financial contribution, a roof was built for the school in Sikarayapuram, providing children with a clean and protected space where they can have their meals.

Recognising that there can be no future without new generations, BAY-FORGE also supported another school located near the company by donating an interactive whiteboard. This tool enables teachers to present concepts more accurately and effectively, while allowing students to benefit from a more engaging and fun-based learning experience.

Donation of “Clinic in a Bag” Systems

Thanks to BAY-FORGE’s financial contribution, two Clinic in a Bag examination systems were purchased and donated. These portable medical systems allow doctors to perform thorough physical examinations directly at patients’ homes, reducing the need for travel, especially for people with disabilities or limited mobility.

The systems were donated to two small healthcare facilities located near BAY-FORGE: the Primary Health Centre in Kundrathur and the UPH Centre in Padalam, Kanchipuram district.

Donation of an ELISA Reader to the Chennai Oncology Institute

BAY-FORGE also donated an ELISA reader to the Chennai Oncology Institute. ELISA, which stands for Enzyme-Linked Immuno-Sorbent Assay, is a technique used to measure antigen-antibody reactions in a solution through enzyme activity.

This medical device plays an important role in cancer screening and diagnostics, helping strengthen the Institute’s ability to support early detection and effective patient care.

Supporting the Women Care Project for Breast Cancer Screening

In 2023, BAY-FORGE supported the Women Care Project, an initiative dedicated to breast cancer awareness, screening, and treatment, with a particular focus on disadvantaged women.

The project includes a mobile clinic designed to reach women living in remote villages, helping improve access to preventive healthcare and encouraging early diagnosis. Through this initiative, BAY-FORGE contributed to promoting awareness and supporting women’s health in underserved communities.

Support for the Local Hindu Hospital

BAY-FORGE further supported the Local Hindu Hospital through the donation of a wide range of medical equipment, including:

  • an emulsifying unit, which helped increase the number of surgeries performed;
  • an anaesthesia workstation, which also contributed to expanding surgical capacity;
  • a blood collection monitor, an electromechanical device designed to maintain blood homogeneity through continuous rocking motion during blood donation;
  • a blood bag refrigerator, enabling the safe storage of up to 160 units of blood.

These donations helped enhance the hospital’s operational capacity and improve the quality of healthcare services available to the local population.

First Multi-specialist Medical Camp at BAY-FORGE

On 20 September 2023, the Rotary Club of Madras North organised the first-ever multi-specialist medical camp at the BAY-FORGE premises.

The initiative brought together 75 doctors and nurses, around 50 volunteers, and several mobile clinics. Thanks to this effort, approximately 170 people, including BAY-FORGE employees and local residents, received medical consultations and support.

The medical camp represented an important opportunity to promote prevention, provide healthcare assistance, and strengthen the relationship between BAY-FORGE and the surrounding community.

A Concrete Commitment to Education, Health, Prevention, and Community Well-being

Through these initiatives, FOMAS Group contributed to improving access to essential services such as safe drinking water, education, healthcare, early diagnosis, and hospital support.

The 2023 CSR programme in India reflects FOMAS Group’s ongoing commitment to generating meaningful impact, working alongside local partners, and supporting the well-being of the communities in which the company operates.
