The major market for the ODF division is the power generation sector. Energy has become a synonym of Oil & Gas, in which FOMAS produces premium forgings for exploration, drilling, extraction and transportation.
Energy also implies Electricity, meaning steam and gas turbines as well as generators (which represent the main market for FOMAS, who is, in turn, the world's leading producer of steel shafts for gas turbines). FOMAS also manufactures forgings for nuclear power plants.
In addition to the power generation sector and the energy markets, the ODF division manufactures components for pressure equipment that is used in mechanical and space industries.
Both the Large Rings Division and the Open Die Forgings Division operate in the energy market i.e. Oil & Gas and electricity - conventional and nuclear - as well as components for pressure equipment. The LRD also holds an important position in the wind power sector, especially concerning towers and adapters (industrial bearings and gears).
Furthermore the Large Rings Division manufactures rings in maraging steel and aluminium / titanium alloys for the space industry, in the Indian plant of the Open Die Forging Division.
For the Small Rings Division the main markets are: roller bearings, including high-performance special bearings, namely those for high-speed trains like TGV; automotive transmissions (cars, earth-moving machines, land cruisers, etc.); industrial transmissions (adapters, speed-change drive units, etc.) as well as specific applications such as cutters for tunnelling.
